History

Cycle Training Wales is Wales’s leading independent provider of cycle training services.

We are a not-for-profit social enterprise which was established in 2008 by Andrew Burns and Nicholas Grant-Canham. Our aims are to promote well-being and the environmental benefits of cycling through education and skills training.

Since our formation, we have worked throughout all areas of Wales and in some regions of England. Our commitment is to providing a quality and dependable service to all our clients.

Our achievements have been recognized by the receipt of several prestigious awards and nominations:

  • Welsh Social Enterprise of the Year 2009
  • South Wales Social Enterprise of the Year 2011
  • South Wales Business of the Year 2011
  • Winner – Innovation in Recycling 2011 (for Cardiff Cycle Workshop)

In 2010, Cycle Training Wales also launched Cardiff Cycle Workshop, a bike refurbishing scheme which has to date put over 1,500 bikes back on the road, which would otherwise have gone to scrap.

In 2014, we moved to new premises in Gabalfa Workshops, establishing a fully-equipped bike maintenance training centre – the first of its kind in South Wales.
